Dr Manoj Nayak is a Principal Research Entomologist, Science Leader of the Broadacre Biosciences Group, and Leader of the Post-harvest Commodity Protection Program within the Crop and Food Sciences, Department of Primary Industries, Queensland, Australia. Manoj has received tertiary qualifications in Entomology including a Master’s in Science, Master of Philosophy, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Manoj has 28 years of R&D experience in post-harvest commodity protection that is instrumental in delivering practical solutions to ongoing pest and resistance problems within the grain industry that helps maintain Australia’s market access for premium grain. Manoj’s main research interests include the development of grain protectants, phosphine fumigation protocols, alternative fumigants such as sulfuryl fluoride, and establishing integrated pest and resistance management programs for stored grain and processed food commodities. Manoj maintains a multi-million-dollar R&D portfolio through attracting significant external funding and over the years, has established an extensive research and industry network both within Australia and across the globe through leading and collaborating in multi-party research projects. He has published 90 peer-reviewed research papers, 10 book chapters, 10 industry articles, and delivered 52 research presentations including 11 keynotes, at numerous conferences and industry forums. Manoj has served as a member of 24 professional committees, including his ongoing role as one of the four Chief Editors of the Journal of Stored Products Research, Strategic Committee Member of Australian National Working Party on Grain Protection, and Permanent Committee Member of the International Working Conference on Stored Products Protection.
