Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vaclav Stejskal is a leading expert in stored-product and urban entomology, focusing on pest management, fumigation, and crop protection. He leads the research team “Protection of Stored Crops against Pests” at the Czech Agrifood Research Center (CARC) and serves as a senior lecturer at the Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU). He has served as a Czech governmental representative in the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). As an expert examiner for professional fumigation at the Ministry of Health, he contributes to regular professional training of professional pest control technicians and farmers. His scientific contributions include over 145 Web of Science-indexed publications, 15 books/book chapters, and leadership in numerous international research projects, including HORIZON 2020. He has played a key role in organizing major international conferences and implementing industrial applications of pest control technologies (e.g. nitrogen atmosphere silos, electronic sensors pest detection device for the Czech National State Material Reserve Administration; the world’s first method of quarantine EDN fumigation of bark beetle wood in forests, etc.). With a distinguished career in both academia and industry, he is an active member of international scientific committees and advisory boards.
